Please don’t be afraid, it’s just our Terminator at the gatehouse. What changes in the milling industry will artificial intelligence bring?

What Has Changed in Our Lives Due to AI-Powered Chats?

Primarily, a portion of the content we hear on the radio, watch on television, or read on the internet is now generated by ChatGPT. Currently, journalists aren’t losing jobs, but with the release of GPT-5 this year, a portion of employees in writing, editing, and content management may be laid off. The issue isn’t only financial but also concerns work efficiency. At least five new text-based systems are expected to enter the market, each highly competitive. The emergence of ChatGPT-4 has significantly altered the quality of human-written articles, adding more interesting statistics and comparisons, often enhanced by artificial intelligence.

How Will Intelligent Text Processors Impact the Milling Industry?

What effect will the rise of intelligent chats have on the milling industry? Firstly, free chats accessible on the internet can easily analyze financial reports, draw conclusions, and propose solutions if we define the problems simply. They can also create analyses, visualizations, and other tasks traditionally handled by financial analysts and various specialists.

While chatbots are unlikely to replace accounting or finance professionals, they will significantly improve their efficiency. Even the best intelligent systems won’t threaten specialists in the short term because there’s a significant gap between the real and virtual worlds.

Great Expectations in Polish Business for AI Implementation

For over a year, I’ve noted that Polish industry is keen to implement artificial intelligence. Managers hope these systems will streamline tasks, perform simple tasks faster, and more efficiently, and ultimately give companies a competitive edge. However, with current methods, such advantages won’t materialize.

The reason is simple: a substantial barrier exists between computer systems and real life.

The Barrier Between Reality and Virtual Reality

The work to integrate artificial intelligence involves several steps:

Understanding client needs.
Tedious data collection, cleaning, and validation.
Implementing solutions in a Python environment, like a predictive model or recommendation system.
Transferring the prototype to an engineer who deploys it to a cloud environment.
Connecting the system to data through interfaces and starting its operation.
This labor-intensive and lengthy process has been labeled „AI implementation in production or sales processes.” The effectiveness of such implementations depends on the expertise and experience of those involved. In my observations, at least half of AI implementations fail to meet client expectations due to high costs, long timelines, and minimal returns.

From today’s perspective on technological progress, it’s clear that this process will soon be regarded as part of a bygone era.

How Will AI Implementation Change in the Near Future?

At the current development stage, artificial intelligence can self-implement, though not without human assistance. Soon, intelligent accounting systems capable of diagnosing and resolving issues will enter firms, executing solutions in one or two days—a speed hindered only by human involvement. Such technology doesn’t yet exist, but it may emerge shortly, signaling the end of many jobs, including those in the milling industry.

Accountants Will Be the First to Go

Integrated systems will serve as a Trojan horse, reducing administrative, accounting, HR, and analytical staff. When I began my career, accounting systems consisted of modules—inventory, sales, payroll, and manual ledger entry. As a graduate, I consolidated data from these modules into coherent financial reports and analyses to detect fraud and abuse.

Later, integrated accounting systems emerged, covering all areas of an organization. Managers now electronically categorize their invoices, and accounting bots supplement balance sheet entries, vastly improving accounting efficiency.

High-Performance, Intelligent Accounting Systems

External high-performance accounting services have led to significant downsizing in accounting departments within medium-sized companies. The next generation of AI-driven systems could completely eliminate the accounting profession. Accountants traditionally ensure compliance with tax laws by documenting revenue and expenses. Intelligent accounting systems, however, can swiftly and accurately categorize invoices and detect discrepancies in cost and revenue processes without errors.

GPT-based free versions already offer features like identifying and categorizing accounting documents, creating budget reports, and explaining complex data patterns.

Why Aren’t These Solutions Widespread Yet?

Currently, such implementations involve a painstakingly long and expensive process. However, accounting software producers are likely to integrate ChatGPT-style processors soon, freeing humans from repetitive tasks.

The Future of Integrated AI Systems

Eventually, governments might view human involvement in accounting as less reliable than autonomous processing. Autonomous cloud-based systems would manage all economic records and accounting. Subscription services would provide companies with precise and reliable data, allowing governments to calculate taxes efficiently. Professions like auditors, accountants, and payroll specialists could vanish, as human-calculated taxes would become too uncertain.

Similarly, human-operated vehicles may eventually be banned. In the future, society may question the wisdom of allowing individuals to control fast, multi-ton vehicles, seeing it as dangerous and irresponsible.

Will Milling Face Rapid Changes?

In the milling industry, much of the personnel involved in data analysis and accounting may be replaced. Historically, society has quickly adapted to new technologies—from the railway boom in the 19th century to the widespread adoption of personal computers and mobile phones.

The latest technology will integrate quickly. Data will be cloud-analyzed, likely by state-owned autonomous accounting systems, offering tax analysis to businesses. Intelligent accounting systems will fully implement AI in management.

Integrated AI Systems Enable True AI-Driven Management

For over a decade, major corporations have moved away from spreadsheets, replacing them with integrated accounting system-generated reports. If accounting systems become intelligent, they will diagnose and solve issues independently. Human oversight will remain, but the process of collecting data, writing prototypes, and building cloud implementations will fade into history. Current technology already supports AI-driven applications capable of replacing entire data analysis and engineering teams, though they lack a broader application environment.

Expected AI-Driven Optimizations

I’ve long written about AI-driven process optimizations, although these solutions have been challenging, costly, and practically unattainable for small businesses. Soon, both small and large companies will have intelligent, integrated systems capable of providing and executing solutions.

We can anticipate various optimizations: systems might suggest halving truck fleets or adjusting grain silo use based on purchasing schedules. A system might also detect flour loss in transport or recommend mergers with nearby companies to realize benefits.

Humanoid Robots to the Rescue

Currently, deploying AI systems in custom setups is prohibitively expensive. Integrating humanoid robots with advanced AI systems provides a feasible solution, like replacing reception staff with AI-equipped robots capable of document handling, scanning, and quality checks.

The Rise of Humanoid Corpses

Many companies are developing robotic prototypes resembling human form. These humanoid robots will eventually become as affordable as cars, filling roles in customer service, airport security, and even surgeries. The cost of AI-driven humanoid robots will drop with mass production, making them widely accessible.

Can Robots Replace Systems?

Deploying humanoid robots is a more straightforward solution than extensive system installations. These robots can perform essential tasks such as checking grain quality, reducing the need for infrastructure changes and cybersecurity concerns.

Will AI Govern Us?

Currently, a system of best practices underlies management. Replacing humans with AI could provide error-free governance, creatively advancing technology without human weaknesses like pride or jealousy.

Humanoid Mobility for Active Roles

Most jobs, like chemical industry maintenance or law enforcement, require mobility. Eventually, robot manufacturers will create mobile humanoid models, initially powered by external cables but capable of fulfilling active roles.

Summary

We are ready to implement highly efficient AI, though the process remains lengthy, labor-intensive, and costly. Introducing humanoid devices with integrated AI accounting systems will enable AI’s rapid expansion in industrial and sales processes. The previous, inefficient AI implementation process has stalled AI’s industrial and service growth. However, integrating AI-driven accounting systems and robotic corpses heralds a true AI revolution that will transform the world.
